Lightning in a Bottle transcends the typical music festival experience. It unfolds as an enchanted realm of adventure, where every turn surprises you with new connections, wonder, and pure bliss. It’s a celebration with both a new community, building relationships that go on for a lifetime. With unique stages showcasing up-and-coming artists alongside global headliners to an array of educational experiences encouraging you to break free from your comfort zone, everything at LIB is crafted to stretch the limits of reality and explore all possibilities.
This is the 21st year of the cherished California camping festival, and is set to feature a highly desired lineup including Skrillex, Labrinth, James Blake, M.I.A., Floating Points, Honey Dijon, and Bomba Estéro. The event will take place at Buena Vista Lake, CA over Memorial Day Weekend (May 22-27).
The lineup continues with Nora En Pure, Justin Martin, Mura Masa, and Of The Trees, along with indie pop band Cannons and London-based jungle and drum and bass artist Nia Archives. Other additions include Barclay Crenshaw, Aluna, it’s murph, DJ Holographic, Machinedrum, and many more.
LIB is known for creating a diverse musical experience to unearth the next favorite artist through an experience local to the campgrounds. Whether your preference lies in techno, bass, house, hip hop, pop, or folk and Americana, the range of music can be experienced across the seven stages: Lightning, Thunder, Woogie, Grand Artique, The Stacks, The Junkyard, and The Beacon. Very eclectic.
The festival gives way to a journey of learning, growth, and exploration through their extensive educational and cultural programs within the Compass, their area dedicated to such an experience. LIB hosts more than 150 talks and discussions led by visionaries, experts, and thought leaders. Alternatively, festival goers can cultivate a new skill in one of the hands-on workshops covering topics from skill-based trades to the art of medicine making.
That’s not all. Festival goers can connect with themselves by engaging in a variety of yoga and movement classes, with a range of styles and skill levels. Whether you prefer traditional practices or opt for the wildly unconventional and fun, LIB will have something curated for your own desires.
Most importantly Lightning in a Bottle embodies a celebration of community – this gathering of artists, vendors, performers, musicians, teachers, thought leaders, and volunteers crafts a realm of connection, exploration, and revelation unique to the festival. Themed camps have become a prominent component of navigating your path in this large and melting pot of a community.
So whether you want to tap into academia, your spirituality, new music, or a social good time encompassing every element of the festival, maybe it’s worthwhile to start planning your long weekend ahead.
